Thailand expects at least 1 mln Russian tourists in 2016

MOSCOW, May 12 (PRIME) -- Thailand expects that at least 1 million Russians will visit the country in 2016, the Association of Tour Operators said in a statement citing Tanes Petsuvan, the managing director of Thailand’s Tourism Authority on Thursday.

In 2014, 884,000 Russians visited the country, down almost 45% on the year.

The number of Russian tourists rose 14.29% on the year to 110,000 people in February, and increased 30% in March.

Russians spend about U.S. $127 daily on average in Thailand nowadays, Petsuvan said.

In 2013, 1.7 million Russians visited Thailand, according to data of the Association of Tour Operators.
